Our Family

I figured if I was going to start a blog I couldn't start it without telling about how Lance and I met. So we are going to go back about 9 years to a time when my life was a whole lot more simple. After getting out of a very serious three year relationship I felt that God was calling me to go on a missions trip so I signed up to go with the youth group that I grew up with. At the time I was 22 and was looking forward to spending some time learning about God and also being a youth sponsor / group leader for some of the teens that would be on the trip. So I headed out not having any idea what God had in store for me.
We got to meet some amazing people in Jamaica. I was amazed at how little they had and yet how much they gave. Besides the locals there were also numerous other ministry teams on the trip that came from all over the USA that came through Yes Ministries (which was who our group came through). I was blessed to be able to room with the nurse who was an amazing women but this meant we could have a knock at our door at anytime to fix every ones hurts. So that meant that the girls I would be spending most of my time with where down a different hall (at the very end) and most of the rooms on that stretch happened to be guys rooms. Since most of the rooms where not air conditioned the doors were left open and guys don't always think about what they are wearing so I made sure to look start ahead, down or out at the ocean. There was a few times however that the guys in the first room would park themselves outside on the already small walkway and block my route to get the the girls room. So finally after many excuse me's and sorry's I finally introduced myself. I found out that this group of guys was from Oklahoma and that there were a couple that were my age one of which made it very clear he was married (which I was thinking I wasn't asking but thanks for the info.) and one that was single. Lance was the single one, he had eyes like a Husky, a go tee and a almost shaved head. Sometime after that introduction Lance seemed to be appearing the same place I was at whenever I was on campus ( which I later found out he had had some prodding). The night before we left Lance was on security duty and asked me to walk with him (excited to have someone to talk to) I agreed. We ended up talking until about 3am. Went to bed, got up to see the sunset at about 6 with ever other crazy person and continued talking until about 9. We exchanged information when we went to leave the next morning and said our goodbyes at the airport. Well after almost a year of talking on the phone, some e-mail and some trips Lance took to Michigan to see "his brother" Lance decided he would by me and my sister a ticket to Oklahoma to visit him. We became an official couple about a month before that trip. The week before we headed out Lance and I decided not to talk to each other to spend time in prayer to see if this relationship was really what God wanted for us. Once in Oklahoma Lance and I had our first date, first kiss and he told me he loved me (all in one night). Once I returned home we began the wedding plans which was set for December. After planning another trip to Oklahoma in July we decided maybe we should just elope (Lance's mom disagreed). So we decided to plan our wedding around the time that Lance's niece would be born in Michigan and his family was already planning on being in my area. Lance's niece was born on August 9th and we got married on August 10, 2002. God had worked it all out. So began the life on the Wyatt family ( the little warriors).
